very nice

this kit was what I expected it to be, plus a little more. first of all, the bag is huge! you can fit the mat, a towel, the water bottle, a block or two, resistance bands, mat wipes, etc. in it. the water bottle might be a bit hard to clean, since it tells you not to use any hard-bristled cleaning brushes in/on it & not to put it in the dishwasher, either, so I'll probably just soak it & rinse it out, to get the inside clean w/out ruining it. I, too, wish the water bottle had a spout, so I don't have to keep twisting the lid off, however, that's not really a big deal, considering it's recyclable & looks so nice. the mat is a little darker & brighter than the more-so olive green color that's shown in the picture (as is the water bottle); the color isn't too much different, though, & it's still really pretty. the mat does have a bit of an odor to it, so if you're sensitive to scents, you must definitely air it out for at least a day.. it tells you to for 2-3 days, but I found that after a day, it's not that strong anymore & I can withstand the odor. all in all, I'm really pleased w/ this kit & I'd definitely buy it again.. I actually have already recommended this & all other Gaiam products to someone I know, who is very heavily into yoga. give it a try, you won't regret it :D

just for beginners
PostedMarch 19, 2014
I was really excited when I first bought this kit because it was something new to add to my exercise regimen. I do have to say that I am a little disappointed, though; the dvd was okay, but was short in length. in fact, when the whole exercise came to an end, I was like "really? that's it?" some parts of the dvd were challenging, however, I also agree that the ring is flimsy, so I'll be buying one that has more resistance & is of better quality, especially since I feel like I might break this one. for the chair exercises, I stayed sitting, Indian-style, on my mat, however, next time I will do them standing. this is mainly just for beginners who have never used a ring or as a warm-up for another exercise. I do love Gaiam's other products, though, so don't let the quality of this ring reflect poorly on other products from Gaiam.

love this ball
PostedMarch 11, 2014
I got this kit a couple of years ago & I love the ball; the band is nice, too. the ball is of really good quality & so much better than cheap pilates balls you can buy because this one will not deflate over time, but others will. even though I do have certain workouts that I use w/ the ball, it's still nice that it comes w/ a dvd. either way, I recommend buying this kit and it could also be nice as a gift for someone who likes to workout, too.

this is an awesome jump rope...I got it mainly because of the reviewer who said that it was recommended by a fitness magazine, although I probably would've bought it no matter what...I just received it today, so I can't say how long it'll last, especially cause I can't use mine inside, due to the fact that my ceilings are too low, so I have to use it outside, on concrete, but it seems pretty durable & there were just a few scratches on it after I was done...I haven't jump-roped in, like, 13 years, so oh man, I only jumped 180x & was winded (it probably didn't help that I didn't have water at my side) but I could definitely feel it in my thighs & even a bit in my arms! I would say that, overall, this was an excellent purchase, especially for the price & Gaiam has such fast shipping for ground!

crysld's Questions

How close to the actual color of the mat is the picture?

I was just wondering because sometimes colors can be deceiving in pictures online and the picture makes the color look like a dark, bluish purple.. is that what it looks like in person, too?

What does the inside of the tote look like on the Tree of Life design?

I was just wondering because I ordered the Tree of Life 3-piece kit & wanted to know what the inside looked like, since it's not shown in the photo. Is it the same color green as the mat or is it just white/ivory?

How many inches in diameter is this toning ring?

I bought this ring kit, however, I also noticed that it is a bit flimsy and I wanted to get a replacement for it, but one that is the same size as this one, so I can still use the dvd.

Does anyone know how long the jump rope is?

I was just wondering because I really wanna get this product (The FIRM® BootCamp 101 Kit -- item # 05-54003), however, I don't want the jump rope to end up being too short or too long. I'm 5'6" and I know I need a 9-foot jump rope and I was gonna get the SPRI Speed Rope you guys sell on here, however, if this is only $5 more, for a toning ball and DVD, too, then I might as well get this instead.

since I asked this, like, a month ago &, still, no answer, I, too, will answer my own question for those wondering the same thing: the jump rope length is about 8-feet long. I know this because I bought this kit, with the SPRI Speed Jump Rope that you guys sell on here (which, btw, is fabulous & totally recommended) & I outstretched both of the jump ropes & compared the length of the 2, not including the handles. even though it's not exactly 9-feet, I can still use it, just in case anything ever happens to my other one & I'm 5'6".
