Finally, a winner!
PostedJune 18, 2012
I've been using this cushion for 3 months now, and I think I've finally found a winner. I've tried other posture-correcting cushions at my desk and computer, but I haven't had the the success that I've had with this one. It sits high, which keeps my shoulders down and relaxed (also great because I have long legs). It's soft enough to keep my sit bones from getting uncomfortable. And, most importantly, it keeps my spine and neck in good alignment. It may take a little while for each individual to find the right balance and position, but once found, it's great. This is the most comfortable that I've ever felt sitting at my desk for long periods.

Pays for itself.

We purchased this to replace the well known, name brand spray mop that we were using. The purchase of this spray mop from Gaiam may seem expensive at first, but it eventually pays for itself. Rather than having to purchase refills of the name brand's cleaner solution (which gets quite expensive#, we can now use our preferred non-toxic solution of vinegar and water #very inexpensive). The Microtech cloths are washable, so you don't have to buy the disposable refills that the name brand mop requires. Also, it's convenient and easy to use. In the end, the mop pays for itself.

Wanted it to be better than it is...
PostedMarch 19, 2012
I truly wanted this product to be successful, but unfortunately, I must agree with the reviewer from Nashville. It does align your back, but even after many months of use, I still find it's difficult to position properly to achieve the desired effect. The hard plastic come in quite narrow around one's buttocks, and the seat is not as padded as one would wish. Also, I find the padding has, over time, flattened out, so that my sit-bones become quite sore and uncomfortable after sitting at my computer for any length of time. I just purchased the Ergonomic Seat Cushion (Item #08-0478), and I'm hoping for better results. So far, it seems better, but I'll review it after I've really tested it out.

is there ever damage to the chair being used with back joy?

The back of the back joy seems hard and not completely smooth. I haven't used mine yet because it seems as though it could make marks on a wood chair or some fabrics. Is there a way to protect the chair and still receive all the benefits of using the back joy? For example, I thought of putting a towel between the chair and the back joy. I'm not sure if either the towel or the back joy would stay in place. I am concerned even more about possibly injuring my back by not sitting on the back joy properly because of trying to protect the chair!

I had a similar concern, but solved the issue by simply keeping the Back Joy somewhat more forward on the chair seat. However, I was using the Back Joy on a padded chair, and I did find that after many months of use that the constant weight being placed on the balance point of the Back Joy, flattened the padding on that part of the chair. Now I have a permanent dent in the padding.
