This soap is useful for purists who don't want chemicals or perfumes. The lather is not excessive, the soap is lasting longer than I thought it might. It smells a little almond-y, which is pleasant. I don't smell like almonds, but the soap has a faint scent of it. Peace of mind knowing that no toxic mystery chemicals are penetrating my epidermis! I bought the big bag and have given bars away as thank you gifts. The soaps package is pretty retro, from Oakland, CA it says. Sort of neat, sort of milquetoast too. One less star b/c there are crack lines in the soap that leave that brown trace of dirt. But heck, it's soap, so it is in fact clean. Translucent soaps might just not show the dirt lines as much. I like this soap and the price was fantastic.

Is this soap packaged with plastic? If so, how much?

The 12 and 24 packs come in a plastic bag. The individual wrapping is slick paper, probably treated with plastic.
