I have used this product for:less than a month
extremely poor design
PostedAugust 5, 2011
I was really excited about this solar dehydrator because I used a similar one and the end product tasted amazing. There's no risk of cooking your fruit, like in the cheaper electric models, and fruits dries in 4-5 days in a hot, dry climate. Unfortunately, the design of this solar drier is so poor that the whole thing fell apart twice in the first 4 days I used it. I think the designer was going for maximum flexibility so that you can take all of the trays out to clean them and remove the frame into all of its components. Unfortunately, this approach has backfired, and it is not strong enough to support the racks. I'm sending mine back and looking for a model that doesn't self-combust every other day.

It works pretty well inside in at 80 degrees in a desert climate.
