Next Step in Your Training

Ana Caban makes great videos- I also have her Intermediate workout and Abs workout. Hers are the only videos that compare to an actual class when I can't make it. This video is great because she adapts reformer exercises to the mat. Not only will they challenge your core, but they involve coordination as well. I love the beyond basics exercises and the choice to do a full 40 min or quick 20 min workout. I plan on taking this with me when I go on vacation in Jamaica so I can get a quick workout in without spending hours in the gym! I would definitely recommend this video, especially if you already have some pilates background. I eagerly await Ana's next Intermediate to Advanced level workout!

Good Investment

I found this video very interesting and challenging. It does give a good core workout, and for those days when I don't have time to the gym it gives me some good cardio without even feeling like I am exercising! The first time I tried it, I got a little frustrated because I felt I couldn't follow the moves very well, but by my second or third times through, I was having a great time and really getting into it! I would recommend rewinding and replaying the moves the first couple times if you are having trouble and do the basic moves a few times before you get into the routine, but after those first few times you will really appreciate that the instructor does not spend FORever explaining each step so your heart rate doesn't go down. Also, it's not about getting every move perfect- I found that when I let go of my frustration at not doing everything perfectly I had a lot more fun and was able to learn the steps quicker. This is a great way to familiarize yourself with the basics of the major dance styles as well as to brush up before you go to a class at the gym- because if you go into a zumba or salsa class, they do not give ANY explanation or break down the moves at all for you. I found that she broke them down really well. GREAT video!

I've been doing Ana Caban's Pilates Ab workout and I want something more advanced. Is Core Challenge harder? The exercises listed sound the same.

I would say this is slightly harder than the Abs workout. However, it also depends on how you do it, since Pilates is so much about technique! I would recommend using both videos in conjunction because I feel like, while the Abs Workout gets your main muscle groups, this one works some of the often ignored ones, so it allows you to tone up in new ways.
